One of the many places that we start to see sagging and drooping as we get older is the skin on the jawline and the neck. "Affectionately" called a "turkey neck", it is a sure sign of showing your age.
Dr. Greg Ratliff and Dr. Brenda Schiesel can help you regain a more youthful, rested appearance by removing the excess fat and skin that creates jowls where your jawline once was, and removing fat and excess skin to restore a graceful contour to your neck.
Patients from throughout Oklahoma and the surrounding area have enjoyed outstanding results following necklift surgery at Plastic Surgery Center of Tulsa.
There are several factors that can play a role in developing jowl lines and turkey neck, including heredity, gravity, environmental factors, and even stress.
People often seek neck lifts when they feel their faces are still young looking and don't need plastic surgery, but their neck and jawline are aging them. If necessary, patients can also consider having other procedures such as a brow lift or eyelid surgery, resulting in an even more rested, youthful appearance.

Dr. Ratliff or Dr. Schiesel will talk with you about what you hope to accomplish with surgery, and they will help develop the best surgical approach to successfully create the look you hope to achieve. Your surgeon will give you special instructions to follow the night before your surgery and after your surgery.
You neck lift procedure will be performed in one of our surgical suites while you are under general ansesthesia. An incision will be made at the hairline, starting at the front of the ear and continuing along the hairline to the back of the head. Sometimes an additional incision is used under your chin. Fat is removed or redistributed, tissue is redraped and repostioned, and often the platysma muscle is tightened. The skin is then redraped and any excess skin is trimmed away. Liposuction may also be used.
The incision is typically closed wth stiches. You may need to return to the practice in a few days to get the stiches removed.
Immediately following your surgery, there will be bruising and swelling. You will begin to see the difference in your neck and jawline as the brusing and swelling subsides. It will take several weeks or months before you see the complete results of your surgery. It is important to follow your surgeon's post-operative recommendations carefully to maximize the results of your surgery.
