While most women are typically happy with their results following breast implant surgery, often claiming the results are "life changing", some women may not be. It may be they're unhappy with the size, shape or feel of the enhanced breasts, or it may be something else that leads them to decide they want their implants removed or replaced. We realize this is a very personal decision and you may have very specifc reasons for considering removal of your breast implants (explant or explantation surgery), including dissatisfaction with the look and size of your implants, concern over health complications that have been reportedly associated with implants, or your primary care physician or other treating physician may have encouraged you to consider removing your implants.

There are many factors that need to be weighed prior to undergoing implant removal. For example, a procedure simply to remove the implant is a relatively quick and easy procedure. However, if you decide that you want the implant and capsule (the scar tissue surrounding the implant) removed in one piece, that is a much more involved and difficult surgery. There may also be consideration of what the breasts will look and feel like after the implants are removed.
